Sailor Honeymoon folds punk, garage rock, riot grrrl attitude and a strain of art-rock cool into something lean and immediate. The band emerged from a rehearsal room in Seoul, where photographer Abi Raymaker and DJ Zaeeun Shin began playing together, later joined by bassist Yelim Kim. The trio released its debut EP, Sailor Honeymoon, in 2024.

Raymaker and Shin’s backgrounds in photography and techno give the band its own slant. Sailor Honeymoon carries the same short-form discipline, direct movement and honesty that place it in a line opened by bands like the Ramones, Bikini Kill and Sleater-Kinney.

Having travelled from South Korea’s underground clubs to festivals such as The Great Escape and Primavera Sound, the band still sounds like where it began. A rehearsal room, the shared impulse of three people, and a decision to leave only what absolutely needs to stay in the songs.
