MurcofMurcof

  • The Other Sound / SAT 15.8.

Murcof is the alias of Mexican-born, Spain-based composer and electronic musician Fernando Corona, a master of modern ambient music who constructs vast edifices of sound that bring to mind the worlds of Le Corbusier. Beginning with the influential Nortec Collective in Tijuana and introducing the Murcof alias in 2002, Corona has built a body of work marked by minimalist classical textures, expansive drones, and a deep, unhurried thoughtfulness. Nearly two decades after Cosmos, his new album Twin Color marks a bold step forward. It’s darker, more cinematic, drawing on post-punk, synth-wave, and the science fiction films of his youth. Developed partly at IRCAM in Paris, it is more direct than atmospheric, propelled by a restless energy that feels like a new chapter rather than a return.
