Jaakko Kulta is one of the most visible new names in Finnish radio pop and the mainstream in recent years. His music draws from the tradition of Finnish rock, but filters it through the 2020s: everyday imagery, young-adult realities, overdrawn bank accounts, social-media era, and emotions no longer wrapped in heroic narratives but deliberately left unfinished.
Jaakko Kulta broke into wider public awareness in 2023 with the single Huone, which climbed rapidly to the top of Spotify’s Finnish charts. A true crossover hit soon followed with Norjalaista puuta, which became a TikTok phenomenon and one of the most-played songs of the year on Finnish radio.
The artists’ debut album, Ihminen, released in 2025, brought together the core of Jaakko Kulta’s world: happiness and uncertainty, dreams and everyday realism, romanticising and its rapid deconstruction. The album carried a radio-friendly but recognisable sound — pop in which the legacy of Finnish rock appears in gestures rather than mannerisms.
Jaakko Kulta moves in the space where the rap generation and the mainstream of radio pop collide. That intersection is precisely where his current appeal is taking shape.
