American singer-songwriter Hannah Cohen is an artist whose music resists being neatly filed into a single category. Folk, soul, soft psychedelia, soft rock and the singer-songwriter tradition of the 1970s are all there, but what matters even more is the way Cohen arranges those elements into something distinctly her own. There is melodic precision in her music, a subtle sense of groove and a control of tone that quickly sets her apart from others working in a similar field.

Cohen released her debut album, Child Bride, in 2012, and has moved forward at her own pace ever since. Her fourth and most recent album, Earthstar Mountain, released in 2025, was a critical success. The album also features appearances from Sufjan Stevens, Clairo, Sean Mullins, Liam Kazar and Oliver Hill.

Cohen’s songs return to questions of direction, change, and what remains when something familiar shifts out of place. In her music, memories, places, and relationships are not just scenery. They carry the weight of the songs themselves.
