Habibi Funk is a label run by Berlin-based Jannis Stürtz, known for reissuing unearthed gems from the Middle East and North Africa, released between the 1960s and the 1980s, spanning funk, soul, jazz, and hip-hop. Habibi Funk already has an eleven-year discography of quality releases, and Stürtz has DJ’d with the same concept since founding the label, becoming increasingly in demand worldwide.

Stürtz is a vinyl-only DJ who regularly plays high-energy, interesting sets in cities such as Berlin, London, Paris, Oslo, and Beirut. The story of Habibi Funk also continues as a label with a steady output. Recently, Stürtz released a compilation of reggae and disco from Libyan cassette releases, and he has also expanded the label’s catalogue with releases from today’s artists, such as the Lebanese multi-instrumentalist Charif Megarbane.
