DJ Subaru is one of the key figures in the queer nightlife of Leeds, UK, working for the local scene as a DJ, party promoter, and producer. She is a resident at the local Lovemuscle club, organises her own party, Pleasuremaxxx, and owns Subaru Studios, where she produces her releases and works as an engineer for other artists.
DJ Subaru’s career has recently taken off internationally. She has played three times in a year at Berghain and DJ’d at club nights featuring artists such as Alexander Robotnick and Alden Tyrell. She has also played back-to-back with Palms Trax, whose label released her EP Lots Of Love, influenced by new wave and EBM. DJ Subaru collects and plays italo and other synth music from around the world, and she channels the values and heritage of authentic DIY club culture.
