Atonauer is the new sonic persona of Finnish artist and composer Lauri Wuolio, known internationally for the warmth and resonance of his Kumea Sound project. Atonauer moves into the deeper waters of ambient, drone, and experimental sound rooted in a practice that spans music, film, theatre, and installation.
The project began with a dream and a jar of blue pigment scraped from abandoned paintings. In New York, a broken Roland Space Echo opened a new way of listening, transforming city noise into harmonic blur, blue into sound. That transformation became Ocean in A, Atonauer’s debut album: seven movements built around breath, overtone, and the note A, asking not how to capture something vast, but how to remain near it.
