Asla JoAsla Jo
Asla Jo is one of the most praised new artists in the field of Finnish indie, labelling their music ’kaihopop’, a term that could be translated as ’longing-pop’. The singer-songwriter has gathered loyal listeners since their debut EP Kaikki alko siitä mihin me loputtiin, released in autumn 2024. The EP presented an artist with a unique perspective on music. Asla Jo writes autofictive songs about big emotions and topics like sorrow, loneliness, letting go, and girl love.
Coming from the coastal town of Vaasa in Ostrobothnia, Asla Jo was signed to the major label Kaiku Recordings early in their career, and in summer 2025, they performed at several Finnish festivals. The debut EP featured several strong tracks, such as Poltan mun kotikaupungin and Dementia, and the single released in May 2025, Pussailen tyttöjen kaa, became Asla Jo’s most-streamed song to date. The much-awaited debut album Papin tytär will be released in early 2026 and is likely to make the artist an ever more prominent name in Finland.
