Akkajee feat. Oma Ensemble Akkajee feat. Oma Ensemble
- The Other Sound / SUN 16.8.
Akkajee — the duo of Iida Savolainen and Meriheini Luoto — builds a sound greater than its parts from acoustic strings, voice, shifting sound sources, and electronics. Their music operates somewhere between horror and pleasure, taking Finnish folk into territories few dare to venture.
At Flow, Akkajee and the Oma Ensemble Choir perform Pölynkerääjä, a work that meditates on the passage, relativity, and cycles of time. Church bells, a decomposing body, an abandoned house: the narrators here speak from beyond the individual perspective, inviting the listener into the chains of generations and the quiet turn of life itself.
“Beautiful in the extreme, but delivered with a real feral, wild-eyed bloodthirst that is all too rare.” — Loud and Quiet
