You may have already encountered the handiwork of Matti Ahopelto without even knowing it – through the music of Vesta or Siinai, a trip to the Tokyo showroom of Comme des Garçons or the Finnish acclaimed TV show Atlantis Pasila and the garage-rock sensation Mamma that emerged from it.
With a career spanning far and wide, AHO is the alias of Ahopelto, a musician who crafts majestic, multilayered ambient soundscapes and vast, pulsating surges of sound. The debut album NOWINTER NOSUMMER, released in 2020, and the following album Odyssey, from 2022, hint at how organic instruments and synthetic soundwaves collide with a cinematic, perhaps imaginary world.
At Flow, AHO will perform at The Other Sound along with Ringa Manner and Tapio Viitasaari.
