Modem is a new Finnish synth-pop duo of singer Tytti Roto &#8211; known for her artist alias Ty Roxy and from the band Kissa &#8211; and Ville Valavuo. Before the two started producing music together as Modem, they dove into the history of Italo horror movies and the Minimal Wave record label catalogue. They also experimented with drum machines and analogue synthesizers. Modem has released two acclaimed maxi-singles so far, and the band has also gained an audience by playing many successful gigs. The duo is currently making their debut album and will perform their new material live this summer. Modem’s influences come from the experimental and bedroom-made parts of 1980s synth pop, from bands like Circuit 7, Deux and Oppenheimer Analysis.
