KevalShah
London-born pianist Keval Shah, who currently resides and teaches in Helsinki, is a rising star in European classical music, known for both his achievements in traditional repertoire and his innovative contemporary programming. His performances often blend genres and draw on his Indian heritage, creating connections between cultures and philosophies. A celebrated collaborator with singers, Shah was only 25 years old when he was appointed as the Lecturer of Lied at Sibelius Academy, the youngest ever to be chosen for the position. Since then, Shah has worked with esteemed opera singers such as Karita Mattila and Anu Komsi.
For his Flow Festival debut, Keval performs a piano recital based on works by Indian-American composer Reena Esmail, including pieces written especially for him. Esmail’s music bridges Indian and Western classical traditions, combining Hindustani ragas with Western harmonies in a vibrant, genre-defying soundscape.
