GrandeMahogany

Wah-wah pedals are always along for the ride when Grande Mahogany weaves a swirling mix of soulful rhythms, hypnotic psychedelia, swinging melodic lines, and electrifying riffs. Drawing from the misty trails and gritty basements marked by the likes of Lenny Kravitz, Jimi Hendrix, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Prince, the artist blends funk, alternative rock, R&B, prog, psychedelia, and experimental elements in his music.

Grande Mahogany, real name Jesse Essel, is a Finnish-Ghanaian virtuoso who moved with his family from Finland to Manchester at the age of 11. In England, he found his own style, absorbing influences from Manchester’s diverse music scene. Now based in Helsinki, the artist has gathered one of Finland’s grooviest bands, whose performances resonate with the free spirit of funk pioneers.
