Afro Sunday is Finland’s largest weekly afrobeats party. The music focuses on African and Afro-Caribbean music, and styles vary from afrobeats to amapiano, dancehall, soca and several other genres. Hosted by DJ Goodblood, DJ Nice, DJ Hermanni and MC Mad Ice, the long-time club favourite of Helsinki Sunday evenings has been held in several venues. This summer the party will happen at Club Apollo terrace.
DJ Hermanni is a versatile dj, promoter and producer who has made over 20 year career playing tropical sounds including afrobeats, reggaeton, dancehall, soca, and afrohouse. He was radio dj at Basso Radio for over 15 years, he’s been part of many long-time clubs in Helsinki, such as Fiesta Latina, Uptown Friday, Ghetto Blaster and Kuningassoundi and warmed up for artists like Maluma, CNCO, Sean Paul, Kelis, Coolio, Burna Boy, to name a few. He has played in most of the major venues, clubs and festivals in Finland and around the world.
DJ Goodblood is a unique Finnish DJ who is known for pushing Afrobeats since the Azonto era, for around 10 years. Many know him from Helsinki’s Afro Sunday, Uptown Friday and Fiesta Latina nights.
DJ Goodblood has played in numerous places in Finland and abroad, and is considered to be among the first to introduce new songs and music trends – whether it be the latest Amapiano, Afro pop, Soca or Reggaeton. Previously, DJ Goodblood has also been introducing new music as a radio DJ, co-hosting the Boom Shakalaka radio show on Basso FM radio station.
DJ Nice is a professional DJ whose specialities include urban music such as hip hop, R&B, trap, afrobeat, and dancehall. Nice has span records at clubs in FInland and around the world, and has warmed up for stars such as Jason Derulo, Burna Boy, Lloyd Banks, and Gyptian, to name a few. He also works as a promoter and has brought artists such as Burna Boy, Lloyd Banks, Runtown, and Stonebwoy to Finland.
DJ Nice is the main organizer the legendary hip hop and R&B Club GLAMOUR and one of the biggest Afrobeats club AFROGLAM. DJ Nice is also one of the members of the best Afrobeats club in Finland AFRO SUNDAY.
Singer-songwriter and music producer Mad Ice has been one of the best-known stars in East Africa in the early 2000s with several topping the charts. In Finland, Mad Ice has actively promoted the reputation of world music not only through his live performances but also as a radio presenter, event organizer and host of the renowned Afro Sunday club.
