47SOUL are the creators and trailblazers of the Shamstep genre, which combines electronic music and sounds from the Middle Eastern traditional Dabke. Releasing their debut EP Shamstep in 2015, the Palestinian musical collective formed in Jordan in 2013 takes influence from hip-hop, electronica, and R&amp;B and melds it with the sounds of Dabke, a traditional folk dance, and other Shaabi roots music from the Levant region.
Having later relocated to the UK, 47Soul released their second album, Semitics, in 2020, which saw them collaborating with the likes of Lowkey, Fedzilla, and Shadia Mansour. Over the decade since their formation, 47Soul have toured the world and built up a formidable following across Arab countries, the global Arab diaspora, and beyond, including memorable appearances at festivals and venues, as well as NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert, bringing together listeners beyond borders.
