Tinyhawk&Bizzarro

Tinyhawk & Bizzarro is a Finnish experimental instrumental music band that has charmed listeners with its fresh sound and versatile playing style. The band’s guitarist and primary songwriter, Jenni Kinnunen, blends elements of traditional and modern instrumental music in her playing. The band also includes guitarist Markus Väisänen, drummer Jaakko Pöyhönen, bassist Teemu Aho, and keyboardist Juuso Kolho.

Released in August 2023, their debut album Nekorok draws inspiration from a wide range, including Finnish electric guitar music, Ennio Morricone’s film scores, West African desert blues, modern psychedelic rock, and 1980s adult rock. Additionally, the influence of Japanese instrumental rock is evident in the Japanese titles of the tracks.

In his five-star review for Helsingin Sanomat, Ilkka Mattila described Nekorok as a “fresh breeze” that cleans the dust accumulated in the attics of Finnish electric guitar music. He particularly praises Jenni Kinnunen’s stylish and insightful guitar playing, creating tension and arcs with melodies, phrases, and tone colours.
