JesseMarkin

In recent years, Jesse Markin has become one of the most talked-about artists in Finland. His music effortlessly combines elements of rap, indie, pop, R&B, Afro rhythms, and even prog, adding depth to his songs by addressing themes such as love, xenophobia, hope, loneliness, and brotherhood.

Markin began his musical career in the early 2000s under the name Ekow with the hip-hop group The Megaphone State. His solo career, which started in 2019 with the debut album Folk, skyrocketed, earning him prestigious prizes and recognitions and his second album, NOIR, continued the success. A favourite among critics and music circles, he has gained wider public recognition with his single Glow, competing in the 2024 New Music Competition.

Born in Liberia and raised in Ghana and Finland, Markin has found inspiration for his music through his multicultural background. As a youth, he discovered strength and self-assurance in American rap music, leading him to embrace the English language and embark on his musical journey.
