Inginmaa/Hypnomen

Balloon 360°

Inginmaa/Hypnomen is a splendid example of a musical cocktail, combining decades of refined expertise in psychedelic swing music with the charismatic jazz touch of a singer. Released in January, the band’s debut album Maailma katoaa is a carefully matured mix of the melodic glow and groove of the 1960s and 70s, the menacing atmospheres of movies, the elegance of the black-and-white era of Finnish popular music (iskelmä), and the echoes of psychedelic pop.

Singer-songwriter Anna Inginmaa and The Hypnomen band, led by Pekka Laine, first teamed up on the 2016 album Huominen on uni, created in collaboration with Kauko Röyhkä. The music of Inginmaa/Hypnomen draws inspiration from the soulful expression of Finnish female singers of the 1960s and 70s, such as Carola, Anki, and Seija Simola, among others.
