Finnish afrotrap artist Ege Zulu creates an aura of positivity around himself. Zulu&#8217;s relaxed sound draws both from the “Marseille sound”, which combines different genres of Afropop and hip-hop, as well as from a strong love for his hometown Helsinki. The success of his self-published debut album Swengari brought the artist from the suburbs of Roihuvuori to the attention of many in Finland in 2020. Ege Zulu signed a recording contract with PME Records and was awarded YleX Radio&#8217;s breakthrough artist of the year. Ege Zulu’s sophomore album Oi maamme Helsinki was released in the fall of 2022. The album features guests, among others, the respected Finnish artists Asa and Sexmane.
