Death Grips (US)

Sat 12.8 - tba

The Death Grips were like a depth charge dropped into the ocean river of rap around the turn of the millennium. It was a time rich in experimentation, even in the mainstream, but the Grips still stood out: beautifully violent, wholly uncompromising and slave to their own unique conception of reality, the band had more than a hint of danger and unpredictability. They take extreme stance of first wave hardcore bands like Black Flag and Bad Brains, and use it to mould a wall of noise into a coherent musical statement. Get close and you’re likely to get sprayed.
