The Riviera Cinema Bar’s combination of movie theatre and bar gives us a taste of what’s to come – it is a true place for friends of films and good times. The actual Riviera cinema will open its doors this October in Kallio, Helsinki at a long-abandoned yet traditional film location.
On Saturday Riviera will serve festival visitors with a refreshing oasis of erotic drama, inspired by the former badass of Finnish film, Freddy Kamras, who used to own Riviera once upon a time. The selection moves from Tinto Brass’s The Voyeur (L’uomo che guard), focusing on worshipping the female body, to Nicolas Winding Refn’s intense masterpiece Drive and all the way to Abdellatif Kechiche’s award-winning and praiseworthy Blue is the Warmest Colour (La Vie d’Adèle). The diverse films are joined at the hip by the fact that they all offer different kinds of rich, sensual experiences.
