Brand new, ever better festival venues

Flow’s venue of past years, the controversial but beloved Makasiinit, has been reduced to rubble to make way for a new music hall, the construction of which is about to begin soon. So, a new location for the festival had to be found. Festival promoter Tuomas Kallio speaks about the reformation:

— Flow is expanding both its duration and programme, and at the same time we are able to introduce the new festival venues. To replace Makasiinit as a venue, we wanted to find a new, fun and preferably somehow historical place that had not been used for events before. The courtyard of Kuudes linja club meets these criteria; the red brick buildings surrounding it create the right atmosphere, and it's big enough for the number of people we are expecting.

The yard will be decorated nicely and equipped with large covered terraces and quality food outlets, not forgetting two large bars. Plants and grass mats will help in creating a lush and green ambience, a true oasis in the middle of the city. In addition to the courtyard, some Flow06 events will be held in the historical festival hall Valkoinen sali ("white hall").

— The idea is to maximize the satisfaction and freedom of choice. Live concerts during the day and early evening will be held in the countyard, but Flow will then continue into the night with electronic music at Valkoinen sali. Valkoinen sali is an elegant, unique venue, which has previously never been used for this type of event.

The Flow06 programme, more diverse and varied than ever, is also divided between the different venues and times of day.

— This summer's Flow offers, besides urban and black music, fresh indie music from pop to rock and folk, especially on Friday at the Flow yard and at the Kuudes linja club. Valkoinen sali focuses on electronic music on Friday and Saturday. On Saturday the Flow yard presents a variety of hiphop, roots reggae, soul and disco. Sunday is for more chilled out music… We hope to have good weather once again!
