Flow Festival’s Food Program Includes Italian Delights and Surprising Fusion Cuisine

Flow Festival once again delivers unforgettable food experiences from around the world. This year’s culinary lineup includes top chef Hans Välimäki’s Italian-inspired Gina X Flow pop-up restaurant, alongside a wide range of street food, fine dining, fusion cuisine, vegan pizza, and dishes from Georgian and Ukrainian kitchens. All tastes are covered – and in keeping with Flow’s commitment to sustainability, none of the restaurants serve red meat or poultry. A new addition this year: all fish dishes at the festival are made using only fish caught in Finnish waters.

Gina x Flow, a concept by Hans Välimäki, invites you to enjoy a seated dining experience in the heart of Suvilahti’s festival buzz. Inspired by Italian cuisine and lifestyle, this unique pop-up brings italodisco vibes and seasonal flavours to Flow Festival. “We’re bringing the flavours and energy of our Gina restaurant to Flow this year,” says Välimäki. “Flow’s innovative approach to culture, food, and experiences makes this collaboration a perfect match.” Välimäki also teases a playful twist: “Dress according to the italodisco theme – we’ll be rewarding the best outfit each day with a dinner gift card for two at Gina.”

Also oining Flow Festival for the first time are local artisan bistro Vintero, Helsinki’s beloved Muru, the boldly creative fusion flavours of The Alley, and modern Thai favourites from Pumpui. Other newcomers include Teemu Aura Pastabaari, Georgian-Ukrainian kitchen Megobaro, and the playfully inventive Toppa. In the Platinum Area, festivalgoers can enjoy a new dining experience by Greenfinch, created by the team behind Loi Loi Rooftop. Meanwhile, top chef Mikko Kaukonen’s Vaasan Club reimagines street food classics with burgers, hot dogs, and more.

Among this year’s returning favourites are Shinobi, combining modern and traditional Japanese flavours; N4KU, last year’s Sustainable Food Award winner, famous for their bánh mì and wild herb garnishes; Pretty Boy with their vegan no chicken meals; and Slicemonger, the go-to spot for New York-style pizza by the slice.

On the café side, visitors can treat themselves to baked goods by Levain or enjoy pastries from Teemu Aura Pullabiili café truck. Award-winning Inka Paahtimo will be brewing premium coffee – the same roastery that took top prizes at the Helsinki Coffee Festival this year. For dessert, Ape Gelato will serve authentic Italian-style ice cream, including vegan options.

Flow Festival also offers a diverse selection of beverages, including premium champagnes, quality wines, and a broad range of craft beers – with plenty of alcohol-free choices as well. In line with the Sustainable Food program, no meat is served at the festival, and all seafood options feature responsibly sourced Finnish fish. Flow’s ongoing carbon and material footprint assessments highlight the vital role of food in addressing biodiversity loss and climate change. With its culinary concept, Flow shows that fine dining and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand.

As in previous years, the Sustainable Food competition will reward the most responsible and delicious restaurant experiences at the festival. Three finalists will be selected and evaluated by a jury based on sustainability and taste. The winner will be announced during the festival weekend.
