The Finnish experimental scene is well-represented in the Tiivistämö line up curated by Juuso Paaso. Artists over the weekend include Sami Kukka, Pekko Käppi, Islaja, Tomutonttu, plus others.

Sami Kukka
Sami Kukka is an acclaimed folk/blues songwriter, whose music is immediate, mostly dark, and also comforting.

Puiset heilat
The Puiset Heilat ensemble, led by Ville Suopajärvi, fuses together folk songs and beautiful noise.

Tsembla
The Turku-based Marja Johansson aka Tsembla has only released one seven-inch thus far, but the reception has been great and her reputation on the grow. This is perfect music for those staring at the sun.

Islaja
Merja Kokkonen
aka Islaja, based in Berlin, crafts dark music flirting with elements of disco. Her eagerly-awaited fourth album will arrive late in the summer.

Keränen
When performing live, Tommi Keränen displays his deep love for enormous feedback walls bristling in millions of colours.

Grey Park
Grey Park makes experimentations but always returns to its roots: into electronic drone, an expremely rich and slow moving carpet of a sound.

Lau Nau
Lau Nau is Laura Naukkarinen, whose sound is based on folk and experimental improvisation, and executed with an electric guitar, her vocals, an array of toy instruments and effects.

Ona Kamu
Elektromys is a solo project by Ona Kamu,
a music performance based on the electric signals generated by human muscles which were registered during a medical measurement of a human nervous system.

Taco Bells
Taco Bells is a hot act in the new wave of energetic free jazz from Finland. The trio is made of sax, drums and double bass.

Ville Leinonen & Majakan Soittokunta
Ville Leinonen, a modern age Finnish storyteller, opens up a whole new foggy and endlessly fascinating world of sound on his new album “Majakanvartijan uni” (“The Dream of the Lighthouse Keeper”). At Flow Festival, Leinonen and his band “Majakan soittokunta” (“The Lighthouse Orchestra”) showcase the critically acclaimed album’s material in its live form.

Hei
Hei (Finnish for “hi”) is Heikki Järvi, who utilises guitars, keys, effects and a cymbal to cook up cosmic masses of sound, which burst out as psychedelic drone.

Pekko Käppi
Pekko Käppi
is a master of the Finnish jouhikko instrument. His songs are arcaic works of a true 21st century craftsman, who has a strong following in both the folk and indie circles.

Marjatta
Marjatta is a project by Samuli Kytö. The music of Marjatta opens up to display the full array of moods in urban life: the rough everyday work, the moments of enlightment on the outskirts of a city, and the sun rising from behind the concrete buildings.

Tomutonttu
Tomutonttu aka Jan Anderzén is a key figure in the Finnish underground sound. The Tomutonttu sound is a collage of elements coming together as bening carnevalistic dreams.

Kiila
During the past ten years, Kiila has evolved from postrock experiments to personal folk rock sung in Finnish. The sextet performs multi-layered compositions by Niko-Matti Ahti.
