Hailing from The Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jupiter & Okwess International’s sound is filled with the rich cultural heritage of its native land and the hectic rhythm of the capital Kinshasa. As a result of years of hard work, the band lead by ex-funeral singer and percussionist Jupiter Bokondji, has become the melting pot of traditional Congolese music and modern, international sounds. The colourful sound of the band caught the attention of Damon Albarn, and Jupiter & Okwess International have since become one of the brightest stars of the Africa Express tour curated by him.
