The ska scene in Finland is enjoying a new renaissance. One of the most exciting groups to emerge from the scene are The Valkyrians, a five-piece ska patrol from Helsinki. Their groovy tunes are a mix of early reggae, traditional 60’s Jamaican ska and British two tone, spiced up with a fresh touch.
When it comes to playing live, The Valkyrians have become a stamp of quality and intensity. Rumours of their ass-kicking live shows started spreading among the wider audience in the early 2006, and already by summer, The Valkyrians’ gigs were among the most anticipated performances at the Finnish rock festivals. After the release of their debut album High and Mighty in September 2006, the group has been playing at sold-out venues all over Finland.
