The Five Corners Quintet (FIN)
The Five Corners Quintet is one of today’s leading dancefloor jazz outfits. Initially an offshoot of Nuspirit Helsinki, the Five Corners Quintet got started in 2003 as a contemporary studio project led by producer Tuomas Kallio. Since then it has proceeded to playing live and extended to a band featuring trumpet player Jukka Eskola, baritone/tenor saxophonist Timo Lassy, pianist Mikael Jakobsson, bass player Antti Lötjönen and drummer Teppo Mäkynen.
The Five Corners Quintet’s debut album Chasin’ The Jazz Gone By (2005) has been released in Scandinavia, Europe, USA and Japan to great critical acclaim. Last year the band toured excessively in Europe and Japan and did their first tour in the USA.
