Tuomo (FIN)
Tuomo Prättälä is without a doubt the best soul singer Finland has ever produced. His brilliant debut album My Thing struck like a bolt of lightning when it hit the stores in early 2007. No wonder, as it’s a superbly balanced record that easily challenges most of the contemporary soul music out there.
In addition to being a virtuoso soul singer who’s earned his name as a member of groups like Quintessence, Q-Continuum, Emma Salokoski Ensemble and Ilmiliekki Quartet, Tuomo is also an accomplished songwriter. His songs have the same ingredients that made the classics of Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield and Marvin Gaye so memorable: catchy hooks, sublime melodies and a general understanding of soul music that is so often lost these days. In other words, he’s truly a name to keep in mind.
Tuomo’s live performances don’t fall short of his achievements on record.
