Jukka Eskola Quintet (FIN)

Trumpetist Jukka Eskola belongs in the cream of the Finnish jazz scene. The 29-year old talent has been awarded with the Sony Jazz Award and the Nokia Young Talent stipend. He has appeared with numerous internationally known Finnish groups, including Jimi Tenor, Quintessence and NuSpirit Helsinki.
Jukka Eskola’s debut album was released in 2005. To date, the album has sold over 5000 copies, which are huge numbers for a jazz record. The album got enthusiastic reviews and won praise for it’s warm 1970’s sound and Eskola’s agile and catchy solos.
The members of the Jukka Eskola Quintet are Teppo Mäkynen (drums), Antti Lötjönen (bass), Jussi Kannaste (saxophone) and Jukkis Uotila (piano). Their music carries a strong vibe of modern club jazz fused with grooves reminiscent of the electric period of Miles Davis.
