Cut Chemist (USA)
DJ Cut Chemist, also known as Lucas MacFadden, is one of turntablism’s leading figures. MacFadden is one of the most skillful DJs as a solo artist, but he’s also worked in such bands as Ozomatli and Jurassic 5. He has also collaborated with DJ Shortkut from the Invisibl Skratch Piklz and DJ Shadow, but the past couple of years he’s been concentrating on his solo career.
MacFadden, who debuted in 1993 on a b-side of the LA-based rap group Unity Committee’s record, released his first full-length solo album The Audience Is Listening in 2006. When he last performed in Helsinki, he was opening for Shakira on her huge worldwide tour. Many, who aren’t fans of the Colombian songstress, were left hungry to see a proper Cut Chemist gig in Finland.
